arsenate reductase (glutaredoxin) EC#: 1.20.4.1; ChemWhat Code: 1376062
Product Name | arsenate reductase (glutaredoxin) |
Example Structure | |
Synonyms | Acr2, Acr2p, ACR3-ArsC, All0195, AR, ARSA, ArsC, arsenate reductase, AsV reductase, EC 1.97.1.5, gene arsC proteins, glutaredoxin, glutathione:arsenate oxidoreductase, Grx, MXAN_0575, PcAcr2, proteins (specific proteins and subclasses), gene arsC, PvGRX5, reductase, arsenate, slr0946, SynArsC |
EC Number | 1.20.4.1 |
CAS Registry Number | |
Comments | A molybdoenzyme. The enzyme is part of a system for detoxifying arsenate. Although the arsenite formed is more toxic than arsenate, it can be extruded from some bacteria by EC 7.3.2.7, arsenite-transporting ATPase; in other organisms, arsenite can be methylated by EC 2.1.1.137, arsenite methyltransferase, in a pathway that produces non-toxic organoarsenical compounds. cf. EC 1.20.4.4, arsenate reductase (thioredoxin). |
Cofactor | Mo cation |
History | |
Reactions | Arsenate + glutaredoxin = arsenite + glutaredoxin disulfide + H(2)O. |
